Starter plant is this very unusual plant Solanum ovigerum, that is part of the eggplant family, although I have never eaten it they say it is very bitter. This is a real show stopper, especially in the late spring if you can keep them growing through the winter. I dip a cup of Easter egg coloring around each egg to give them all pastel colors. The grandchildren are always amazed. The are exactly the same growing directions as any eggplant, just start inside late winter and put out when all danger of frost passes.
