Seeds from this hard to find member of the Mexican petunia family Ruellia strepens or Limestone wild petunia smooth petunia. Typically occurs in rich open woods, thickets and borders of streams and ponds. This clump forming perennial grows 1 to 3 feet tall and is hardy in zones 5 to 8. The numerous lilac to lavender blossoms appear from May to September.
