Starter plant of Phalaris arundinacea Strawberries and Cream. Sometimes known as reed canarygrass. A bit of pink variegation peaks out with the white and green leaves on this Ribbon Grass. This is a spreading grass, forming a wide patch of medium height. Leaves are striped lengthwise with dark green and white, blushed with pink in spring and fall. Tan spikes appear in summer. Choose a site where this grass can wander freely, or plant in tubs and containers. Its foliage is a bit finer than Picta, it is 2 feet in height, but is also an aggressive grower, tolerating wet conditions. Although drought tolerant, it likes abundant water and can even be grown as an aquatic plant. Does well in a container. Try growing it directly in your pond, in shallow water, or in a bog container. Hardy in zones 3 to 11.
