Seeds from Pavonia missionum, Pavonia rubra, Red Mallow. This very rarely seen native of Argentina Brazil and Paraguay is a small flowered relative normally seen only in botanical gardens is an upright shrubby perennial and can bloom while still relatively small. 6 feet tall, 5 feet wide. In late winter on through summer appear the 1 and a half inch wide outwardly facing orange red flowers with a golden center of bundled stamens. Hardy to around 25 degrees, may survive weather in the teens for a short period of time. Full sun to light shade. Any garden soil. Very easy to grow and is very heat tolerant but does not like its roots to dry out completely.
