Seeds from Passiflora foetida v. alba. This is a very dainty and fragile looking passiflora with its featherly bracts surrounding white blossoms with the very end of the filaments of lavender. I originally purchased these seeds as foetida cardosa moreier but found this was not a traceable variety. After much inquiry with other passion vine enthusiasts this variety was decided to be the variety alba. The is hardy in zones 9 and above, but here in zone 8B I have had mine come back for the past three years. The 10 foot vine has clusters of 1 and a half inch flowers that blossom from April thru August, it does slow down when the temperatures get in the high 90s. The fragrance is very delicate and the fruit is not the edible type and is still greenish yellow when ripe. This plant is very vigorous and grows quickly to cover the small arbor in part or full sun, and therefore is a desirable plant for quick coverage. Passiflora foetida is a North American native host plant for the Gulf Fritillary, the Variegated Fritillary, the Zebra Longwing, and the Julia butterflies.
