Seeds from this banana very rare Musa itinerans or Yunnan Banana grows fast and its suckers grow quite a distance from the mother plant, hence the name itinerans which means travelling. Native to the Himalayan mountain region of Tibet. The flower will have peak nectar secretions once at night and once during the day so sunbirds or bats will be attracted when either are most active. This giant 40 foot banana is cold hardy to 28 degrees. The non-edible fruit is blunt shaped and is pink to dark lavender in color but the blue-green trunk is the real eye catcher. Zones 10-11.
