Seeds from Musa balbisiana var balbisiana when fully grown, the stem reaches a height of 16 – 20 feet is a very fast growing wild banana . It has gorgeous upright leaves up to 9 feet long and about 2 feet wide. Leaves are green above and a paler green underneath, the midrib is green to yellow-green. Musa balbisiana var balbisiana produces huge red flowers, followed by large clusters of bananas. Fruit is seeded and inedible. It grows at some altitude so may tolerate cool conditions and a little frost. Zone 9-10
