Quart plant of Lychee Brewster variety Litchi chinensis, and commonly called leechi, litchi, laichi, lichuIt can grow to 20 to 40 feet tall and 25 feet across. The outside of the 1 1/2 to 2-inch fruit is covered by a pink-red, roughly textured rind that is inedible but easily removed to expose a layer of sweet, translucent white flesh. Lychee fruit is high in the antioxidant Vitamin C and the essential mineral Potassium. Lychees are eaten in many different dessert dishes and are especially popular in China. In the northern hemisphere are ripe during the month of June. It grows in full sun to part shade with very little extra care and has very few insect problems. Hardy in zones 9b to 11.
