Seeds from Lonchocarpus capassa Apple Leaf Rain Tree. Rare semi-evergreen African tree, medium-sized, semi-deciduous. Purple to mauve flowers in pendulous sprays are sweetly scented. This plant is of horticultural potential for large gardens in low frost, sandy areas. Pea-like, fragrant purple flower bunches come out just before, or at the same time, as the new leaves. Hardy in zones 9-11.
