Seeds from this Lychee Brewster variety Litchi chinensis, and commonly called leechi, litchi, laichi, lichuIt. This plant can grow to 12 feet when left in a pot. The outside of the 1 and a half to 2 inch fruit is covered by a pink red, roughly textured rind that is inedible but easily removed to expose a layer of sweet, translucent white flesh. Lychee fruit is high in the antioxidant Vitamin C and the essential mineral Potassium. Lychees are eaten in many different desert dishes, and are especially popular in China. In the northern hemisphere are ripe during the month of June. It grows in full sun to part shade with very little extra care and have very few insect problems. Hardy in zones 8b to 11.
