Fresh seeds of Leucothoe (Agarista) populifolia. A broadleaf evergreen shrub or even small tree. It grows much larger than other Leucothoe species. The tall erect multiple stems with arching branches have creamy white small fragrant bell-like flowers in spring. New growth emerges bronze or reddish and darkens to glossy green with age. It is native to southeastern South Carolina and to Florida but widely cultivated well north of its native range. Best in semi shade with moist acid soil that is reasonably well-drained. Growing 8-12 feet tall in zones 7-9.
