This relative of the common impatiens also forms small seed pods that burst and send seeds quite a distance. Growing 2-5 feet tall and liking moist soil, this plant will produce these yellow blossoms. This plant is a native to the United States. It grows, generally alongside the closely related Impatiens capensis, producing flowers from midsummer through fall. Along with other species of jewel weed or “touch-me-not”, it is a traditional remedy for skin rashes, although not proven. Zones 3 to 8
