Seeds from the Hibiscus furcellatus, salad Hibiscus, Linden-leaf roemallow or Sleepy Hibisucs. Growing up to 8 feet tall and 4 feet across, this dark rosy blossom with the dark maroon center is a real eye catcher. This amazing hibiscus grows fast and spreads wide, also. Needs to be pruned as to not become leggy. If pruned constantly, forms a nice big shrub. Tolerates dry conditions. Started to bloom in autumn. Covered all over with flowers that open in the morning, and by afternoon they contort into knots. Leaves are very tasty and are used in salads – it’s a great source of Vitamin C. Seeds are used for making delicious tea. Hardy to zones 9-11.
