Seeds from Santa Cruz Island Buckwheat is a shrub to three feet in the coastal areas. This buckwheat is native to the Channel Islands. It has gray foliage with pink flowers that hang around from summer to winter, useful in dried flower arrangements. Eriogonum species are very drought tolerant and need full sun, they only need little watering after established . A nice looking small plant that has no problems. it seems to be hardy to some where around 0F, although 5-10F is probably safer. The buckwheats are butterfly plants and are very popular. The flowers, leaves and seeds are all used by many of the smaller animals. Zones 7 to 10 3 x 3 shrub.
