Seeds from Doryanthus excels. This large leaved plant with bright green leaves a native from the Australian Agave family with a large upright bright red flower head. t grows best in partial shade but will tolerate full sun. Frost hardy although flowers can be damaged by heavy frost. Excellent accent plant or large container plant. It is a spectacular addition for larger gardens as you really need a bit of distance to appreciate it and surprisingly it goes well in containers. The flower-heads are huge with 8-10″ flowers across and borne on top of giant erect spikes. Zones 9-11.
