Seeds from Dodecatheon pulchellum Few Flowered Shooting Star, dark throat shooting star and prairie shooting star. A perennial herb with single, leafless flower stems, growing from very short erect root stocks with no bulblets. This native zone 4 to 8 perennial wildflower consists of a low rosette of leaves and a flowering stalk of flowers in zones 3a to 7b. The flowering stalk is hairless and have no leaves. The pink starshaped flowers hang downward are about three quarters inch long between April and August. They need plenty of moisture in spring, but can be quite dry during their summer dormancy.
