This sun loving 5-6′ annual from India that has dark green leaves and large upward pointing trumpet flowers that are purple tinges single and double blossoms. The pods have exceptionally interesting seed pods and are used extensively in flower arranging. All daturas and brugmansias are poisonous if consumed as are more all tropical plants.
