Seeds from Clematis columbiana. This newly available species, native to the Rocky Mountains, is really more of a ground cover than a climber. Small violet/pink umbrella-shaped flowers cover the plant in spring and are followed by the typical fuzzy clematis seedheads. And this clematis does well in sharply drained soils, making it an excellent rock garden plant. Prefers full sun in zones 3 to 9.
