Seeds from Calothamnus hirsutus Hairy Claw flower. This perennia 5 to 6 foot compact, multi-branched spreading shrub is called “claw-flowers” because of the claw-like shape of the stamen bundles. The flowers have five claws and bright red. They contain nectar and are attractive to honey eating birds. Sow on surface, and gently firm, do not cover. Requires light to germinate. Keep warm and moist. Hardy in zones 8-10.
