Quart plant of this hard to find Callicarpa acuminata Black beautyberry or Mexican beautyberry. It closely resembles our American beautyberry but is somewhat shorter in height. This loose open form deciduous 3 to 4 foot shrub is hardy from zones 8b to 10b and has something to offer every season. It produces small dark-purple to dark blue-purple berry-like fruits that grow in clumps, whorling around the arching stems. These fruits that form on new wood may occasionally be white and may last through the winter. Once the fruits have ripened, birds will forage on the sweet berries.
