Borassodendron machadonis is a species of flowering plant in the family Arecaceae. It is found in Peninsular Malaysia and Thailand and is threatened by habitat loss. It is occasionally cultivated as an ornamental. Requires full sun, consistently moist, but fast-draining soil. A solitary trunk-type palm featuring leaves of palmate very deeply split, dark green, and glossy. The big seeds put down a long “sinker”, so plant it in its permanent position on germination, or choose a deep pot. It prefers a tropical climate but can handle brief periods of cooler weather in winter. Able to produce purplish-green to brown ripened fruits. Growing 45 feet tall and 18 feet crown width. Hardy in zones 10 and above.
