Seeds from Dodecatheon cusickii Cusicks shootingstar. A perennial herb with single, leafless flower stems, growing from short thick root stocks with no bulblets. This native zone 5 to 8 perennial wildflower consists of a low rosette of leaves and a flowering stalk of flowers about a half to one and a half inches tall. The flowering stalk is hairless and have no leaves. The hot pink starshaped flowers hang downward are about three quarters inch long between April and August. They need plenty of moisture in spring, but can be quite dry during their summer dormancy.
